Day 1: Arrival in Chiang Mai
You will be picked up at the airport and brought to your hotel. You will stay in The Rim Hotel – a small but wonderful hotel in Chiang Mai’s old town. The hotel was built in traditional Thai architecture style and has a pool. You can discover the city centre by foot on this day.

Day 2: Chiang Mai Temple Tour
You will start in the morning with a tour at the Phra Singh temple – one of the oldest temples in Chiang Mai. Thereafter, you will walk about 10 minutes to the Chedi Luang temple which was once the highest Pagoda in Thailand. Afterwards, you will go by car to the Wat Jed Jod temple, a reproduction of the famous Bodhgaya temple in India. The magnificent ruins will give you an impression how imposing this temple was.
Thereafter, you will visit the National Museum that will tell you a lot about the Thai culture. Your lunch break will be at the Royal Project where fresh vegetables from the royal agriculture project are served.
You continue on bendy roads to the Doi Suthep temple on the hill. The temple is Chiang Mai’s landmark and also called the Golden Temple. You will be back at your hotel around 5 pm.

Day 3: Cycling tour in the South of Chiang Mai
You will start for your cycling tour in Chiang Mai’s countryside at 8:30 am. You will cycle on small roads and along the river, stop at a famous temple and cross a missionary island that was used as a leprosy colony in former years. You continue through rice fields, fruit orchards and small villages until you reach Baan Tawai – the famous handymen village. You will get an insight in the local life today! This tour is a wonderful private tour that will impress you.

Day 4: Local market and cooking school
You will visit the local Warorot market in the morning. You can find exotic fruits and vegetables, fish, Thai specialties, herbs, spices, flowers, traditional cloths and much more in this vivid place. The market is located in China Town. Your lunch break will be at a nice colonial house at the riverside.
Thereafter, you will be brought to a Thai/German family’s house. The atmosphere is very beautiful and Oy, whose guest you will be today, will introduce you to the fascinating Thai cuisine.
You will get information about the Thai herbs and learn how to prepare different Thai dishes. In the end, you will have a nice dinner. The cooking class is really individual and no tourist attraction!

Day 5: For your free disposal
This day is for your free disposal. You can go shopping, get a treatment at the Spa or relax at the pool. There are also a lot of nice museums and markets in town – you have the choice! We would be glad to give you recommendations.

Day 6: Lanna National Park – Reservoir
Today you will leave the city with your luggage. A 1.5 hours’ drive will bring you to the Lanna National Park. The reservoir that is located in the middle of the woods will remind you of a fjord. You will get on kayaks and cross the lake to reach your accommodation. You will stay in a raft house – a simple but clean house with bathroom and terrace. You can go kayaking or swimming or just enjoy the nature.

Day 7: Lanna Lake – Kayaking
After breakfast you will canoe deeper into the reservoir. You can watch local fishermen at work. Lunch break will be at the raft house. You can go swimming before getting back to your kayaks to return to your starting point. If you do not want to go kayaking, you can also relax or go swimming.
Thereafter, a one hour drive will bring you to Chiang Dao. You will stay in the Nest Resort – a small but wonderful resort that is situated in the middle of the woods. The resort has excellent food to offer and the Thai owner worked in a restaurant in England for many years. You will stay in nicely furnished wooden bungalows.

Day 8: Trekking Tour
After breakfast, you will drive one hour into the mountains to a Lisu hill tribe village. You will have a spectacular view over the hilly landscape. The Doi Luang Chiang Dao with a height of 2245 metres is the third highest mountain in Thailand. You will hike in the National Park and see wonderful waterfalls and caves.
You will continue to your camp where you will stay in the dormitory of a bamboo house. Everyone has an own mattress with a mosquito net. You can prepare your dinner together with your guide in the evening.

Day 9: Trekking Tour
You will start for your four hours trekking tour to a Karen hill tribe village. You will get in touch with the local life and the traditions of the hill tribes. You will have your lunch break in the jungle.
You will discover caves today that were used as temples in former years.
You can prepare your dinner on the fire in a hill tribe village and the locals play music on their self-made instruments.

Day 10: Hill Tribe Tour
In order to gain more knowledge about the hill tribes, you will visit more villages of the Akha, Lisu, Lahu and Karen today. Your guide will give you a lot of information on their origin and life style. You will visit villages where tourists normally do not go to. You will make your way back on the back of an elephant and afterwards on a bamboo raft on the river. In the late afternoon, you will be back at the nice Chiang Dao Nest Resort.

Day 11: Thaton
The morning is for your free disposal and afterwards a two hours’ drive will bring you to Thaton. Thaton is a little village close to the Burmese border. You will visit the temple on the hill with its unique Pagoda. You will start on top of the hill and see the Buddha sculptures on each level while going down. You will stay in a small but nice resort above the Mae Kok River.

Day 12: Thaton – Trekking
Today you will go hiking again. Your local guide will walk you through wonderful natural surroundings and gives you a lot of information about the flora and fauna of this region.

Day 13: Boat tour to Chiang Rai – trip to the Mekong
In the morning, you will visit a Lahu village where you can learn more about their life style. The school of this village is supported from parts of your travel expenses.
After lunch you will get on a longtail boat that will take you approximately three hours downstream to Chiang Rai. You will pass wonderful sceneries. This boat tour is one of the most beautiful ones in Northern Thailand. You can watch Asian buffalos and elephants taking a bath, children playing in the water and women doing their laundry.
After your arrival in Chiang Rai you will be picked up at the pier and your guide will bring you to the Mekong. You will stay in the Siam Triangle Resort where you can overlook the Mekong from your room.

Day 14: Golden Triangle
You will take a walk to the Golden Triangle. The gigantic Mekong is one of the natural highlights of the border area. Thus, you should not miss a boat tour on this river.
Thereafter, you will visit the impressive Hall of Opium. The museum will introduce you to the history of the Golden Triangle. The exhibition shows the area’s history with poppy cultivation, how opium was distributed and the effects of the drug on the area and the whole world. Afterwards, you will have lunch at a restaurant at the riverside of the Mekong.
A 1.5 hours’ drive will bring you back to Chiang Rai where the impressive White Temple Rong Khun is located. The temple was built by the famous Thai artist Chalermchai and is a unique masterpiece.
After visiting this temple you will return to Chiang Mai. You will reach your hotel “The Rim” in the evening. You will have one last night in Chiang Mai before your trip ends.

Day 15: Departure
Transfer to the airport.
