Day 1: Arrival in Chiang Mai
You will be picked up at the airport and brought to your hotel. You will stay in the hotel “The Rim” – a beautiful, cosy hotel in the old town of Chiang Mai. The hotel was built in Thai architecture style and has a nice pool. You can already discover the city centre in the evening. Hotel: The Rim Hotel
Day 2: Chiang Mai City Tour with Temples
In the morning you will start your guided tour at the Phra Singh temple which is one of the oldest temples in Chiang Mai. You will walk approximately ten minutes to the next famous temple: Wat Chedi Luang which was once the highest Pagoda in Thailand.
Afterwards you will go by car to the next temple: Wat Jed Jod. It is a reproduction of the famous Bodhgaya temple in India. Magnificent remains will give you an impression of how imposing this temple was once.
Right next to the temple is the National Museum which will inform you about the Thai culture. You will get lunch at the Royal Project where fresh vegetables from a royal agriculture project are served.
Afterwards your trip continues on the bendy road up to the Doi Suthep temple. This temple is Chiang Mai’s landmark and also called the Golden Temple. You will get back to your hotel around 5 pm. Hotel: The Rim Hotel (B; L)
Day 3: Cycling tour in the South of Chiang Mai
At 9 am you will start for your cycling tour a little outside the city. You will cycle on small paths along the river, stop at a famous temple and drive to a missionary island which was used as a leprosy colony in former years.
Afterwards your tour will take you through rice fields, orchards and small villages to Baan Tawai. Baan Tawai is the famous handymen village where you will get an insight into the local life. This private tour will leave wonderful memories!

Day 4: Local market and cooking class at a Thai family’s home
You will visit the local Warorot Market in the morning. Discover exotic fruits and vegetables, fish, Thai specialties, herbs, flowers, traditional clothing and much more in this vivid place. The market is located in China Town – a really vibrant area of Chiang Mai. For lunch you will snack at a wonderful tea house at the riverside.
Afterwards you will be brought to a Thai family’s wooden house. The atmosphere is wonderful and Oy, whose guest you will be at that day, will introduce you to the fascination of the Thai cuisine. You will get information about Thai herbs and you will learn how to prepare different delicious dishes. After cooking, you will enjoy your self-made dinner. This is an individual cooking class and no touristic cooking school. You will get the recipes as a copy so that you can cook the dishes at home for your friends and family. Day 5: One day at your free disposal
Today you can go shopping, get a massage at the Spa, relax at the pool, visit a museum or stroll on markets – it is up to you! We would be happy to give you recommendations. Hotel: The Rim Hotel (B)
Day 6: Lanna National Park – Reservoir
You will leave the city behind today to enjoy the natural surroundings of Chiang Mai. You will reach the Lanna National Park after a 1.5 hours’ drive. The reservoir of the national park is magnificent and is located in the woods like a fjord.
To reach your accommodation you will get on a kayak and canoe approximately one hour to your raft-house. It is a simple but clean accommodation with bathroom and terrace. You can spend your time kayaking, swimming or just enjoying the nature.

Day 7: Lanna Lake - Kayaking
After an extensive breakfast you will start for your kayaking tour. Your will get deeper and deeper into the reservoir where you can watch the fishermen at work. Lunch break will be at the raft-house and afterwards you return with your kayaks to the starting point. If you do not want to go kayaking, you can also swim in the lake or just relax.
Thereafter, you will have a one hour’s drive by car to the Chiang Dao Nest Resort. The cute, small-sized resort is located in the middle of the woods and you will be pampered with delicious cuisine. The Thai owner was running a restaurant in England for many years. You will stay in nicely furnished wooden bungalows.

Day 8: Trekking Tour
After breakfast you will drive approximately one hour into the mountains to a Lisu hill tribe village. You will have a spectacular view over the hilly landscape. The Doi Luang Chiang Dao is with a height of 2245 meters the third largest mountain in Thailand. This will also be your starting place for hiking in the national park. You will visit a beautiful waterfall and discover a cave. You will continue walking until you reach your camp where you will stay in the dormitory of a bamboo house. Everyone has an own matrass with a mosquito net. In the evening you can prepare a delicious dinner with your guide.

Day 9: Trekking Tour
In the morning, your four hours hike will bring you to a village of the Karen hill tribe. Experience the native local life and learn about their traditions. For lunch, you will have picnic in the jungle.
Today, you will discover more caves which were used as temples in former times. In the evening you will prepare your dinner on the fire in a hill tribe village and the locals will play music on their self-made instruments.

Day 10: Hill tribe tour
In order to gain even more knowledge about the different hill tribes, you will visit other villages of the Akha, Lisu, Lahu and Karen tribes. Your guide will provide a lot of information about their origin and life style. The villages you will explore are barely visited by tourists.
You will make your way back along the river on the back of an elephant. You will switch to a bamboo raft once you reached the river and drive downstream. In the late afternoon, you will be back at the nice Chiang Dao Nest Resort where you can have an extensive dinner after this sportive tour. Resort: Nest Resort (B; L)
Day 11: Thaton
In the morning you can take time to relax at the Nest Resort. Afterwards your two hours’ drive will bring you to Thaton – a quiet village close to the Burmese border. The first item on the agenda will be the visit of the temple on the hill: Wat Thaton. You will start at the unique colourful Chedi on top of the hill and walk downhill. On different levels you can discover different Buddha statues.
You will stay in a small, nice resort above the Mae Kok River.

Day 12: Thaton - Trekking
Today you will go hiking again. A local guide will walk you through the breath-taking landscape and give you information about the flora and fauna of the region.

Day 13: Boat tour to Chiang Rai – Trip to the Mekong River
In the morning, you will drive to a Lahu village where you will learn a lot about their life style. You will support the school of this village with parts of your travelling expenses.
After lunch, you will get on a longtail boat and drive three hours downstream until you reach Chiang Rai. On the boat tour you will pass idyllic hilly landscapes, watch Asian buffalos and elephants taking a bath in the river, hill tribe children playing in the water and women doing their laundry. This is one of the most beautiful boat tours in Northern Thailand!
At the pier in Chiang Rai your guide is already awaiting you. Afterwards, you will drive 1.5 hours by car to the Mekong River. From your room you can overlook the Mekong.

Day 14: The Golden Triangle
You will take a walk to the Golden Triangle. The gigantic Mekong is one of the natural highlights of the border area. Thus, you should not miss a boat tour on this river.
Thereafter, you will visit the impressive Hall of Opium. The museum will introduce you to the history of the Golden Triangle. The exhibition shows the area’s history with poppy cultivation, how opium was distributed and the effects of the drug on the area and the whole world. Afterwards, you will have lunch at a restaurant at the riverside of the Mekong.
A 1.5 hours’ drive will bring you back to Chiang Rai where the impressive White Temple Rong Khun is located. The temple was built by the famous Thai artist Chalermchai and is a unique masterpiece.
After visiting this temple you will return to Chiang Mai. You will reach your hotel “The Rim” in the evening. You will have one last night in Chiang Mai before your trip ends.

Day 15: Departure from Chiang Mai
Today you will be brought from your hotel to the airport. You can continue your journey with beach holidays in the South or return to your home country. (B)
