Day tour Nr. 118
Cycling tour and cooking course
We will pick you up at the hotel between 8 and 8.30 a.m. This is where we will embark on our cycling tour. We first make it out of the city, along the river to an interesting temple and then on, always along the river, across a missionary island, previously serving as a leprosy station, under huge old trees, through little villages to the handicraft village Ban Tawai.
There, we’ll have lunch and you’ll be given an hour of time for a stroll through the shops.
Here, our cycling tour ends and we are transferred to little cookery school, run by a Thai/German family, with a simply beautiful ambience. There, we’ll receive an introduction to Thai herbs and learn the preparation of 5 different Thai dishes, followed by a collective meal.
This cooking course is highly individual and certainly not touristy.
A copy of the recipes is available and the dishes are quite variable:
- a delicious soup like Tom Kha Gai with coconut milk
- a distinctive salad like papaya salad or pomelo salad with shrimps and wingbeans
- mostly a curry, as curries simply are an integral part of the Thai cuisine
- Maybe a cashew chicken or something sweet and sour?
All these are usually served with homemade spring rolls and a delicious dessert like mango sticky rice in coconut milk!
You will be transferred back to the hotel about 8 p.m.
This tour is only conducted in small groups of 2 – 6 persons.
