Day 1: Arrival in Bangkok
You will be picked up at the airport and brought to your hotel in the centre of the city. You will have time to relax after the long flight. You can discover the surroundings of your hotel in the evening if you like.
Day 2: Bangkok Classic Tour
In the morning, you will be picked up at your hotel and you can enjoy the sightseeing highlight of the city: the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaeo – with the famous emerald Buddha and Wat Pho with its well-known lying Buddha.
You will have lunch in a nice Thai restaurant.
In the afternoon, the boot will take you through Bangkok’s khlongs (canals) where you can observe the vivid life at the riverside. You will stop at the temple Wat Arun where the mosaic pieces reflect the sunlight. After all those cultural highlights you will be brought back to your hotel. (B; L)
Day 3: Bangkok - Ayutthaya (ca. 80 km)
On the third day you will start with your trip to the North. Your first stop will be the Bang Pa In Palace that was built in 1630 and was used as the summer residence of King Chulalongkorns, Rama V.. Afterwards Ayutthaya is awaiting you! The city is one of Thailand’s cultural highlights. For 417 years this city was the seat of government of 33 kings until it was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. When visiting the temples and ancient city you will get an impression of the former kingdom.
Ayutthaya was built on an island where the rivers Maenam Chao Phraya, Pasak and Lopburi cross. You will experience a 45-60 minutes long boats tour with your guide and your boatsman. You will be brought back to your hotel around 4 pm. The hotel is situated directly at the riverside. (B; L)
Day 4 - Ayutthaya - Sukhothai (ca. 300 km)
After breakfast, you will start for central Thailand. A three hours’ drive will bring you to Sukhothai. Check in the hotel in the afternoon. In the late afternoon you will have a sunset cycling tour over the rice fields. Enjoy your trip. Overnight in the Treasure hotel. (B; L)
Day 5 - Sukhothai
In the morning, you will discover the Old Sukhothai Historical Park by bike. The impressive ruins remind of the ancient era of kings in the 12th century.
Then, you will visit a local school that is supported by the German foundation Thaihelp. The children will sing songs and you can give sweets to them which will be provided by your guide. Furthermore, you will get information on the social project.
After lunch, you can visit the home of some of the children you met in the local school. You can experience the local life in a typical Thai village.
Afterwards, you will participate in a cooking class in a nice, open restaurant. Today you will prepare your Thai dinner yourself. Your guide is not just a guide but also loves cooking and he will introduce you to the Thai cuisine. You will prepare three main dishes and one dessert. After the cooking experience you will return to your hotel. (B; L; D)
Day 6 Sukhothai - Chiang Mai (350 km)
After breakfast, you will continue your trip to the capital of Northern Thailand: Chiang Mai. You can see that the surroundings are changing because you reach the mountains. On the way, you will visit an animal clinic for elephants and you can also ride these impressive animals for one hour. You will get to Chiang Mai in the evening where you will be brought to your hotel in the city centre.
After your arrival, you are free to visit the famous night bazaar. (B; L)
Day 7 - Chiang Mai
Today, you will discover the capital of Northern Thailand. You will be able to observe different styles in the city: the ancient wall of the former Lanna Kingdom, the teak houses, parks and modern buildings. You will also realize the rather laid-back lifestyle in this city.
In the morning you will visit the local Warorot Market. You will experience an atmosphere that is very different to markets in the western world: the vivid life, exotic fruits and vegetables, fish, herbs, flowers, traditional cloths and other Thai specialties.
The market is located in China Town where you can also find Chinese gold shops, Indic fabric shops and much more. You will also visit a traditional Chinese pharmacy where herbs and teas are used as medicine. And before having lunch in a nice tea house, you will visit a Chinese temple.
After lunch you will visit Chiang Mai’s landmark: the Doi Suthep temple on the mountain. You will have a breath-taking view over the city and the golden Pagoda will fascinate you. Furthermore, you will learn some interesting facts about the Buddhism itself. (B; L)
Day 8 - Departure
This is the last day of your round trip. Before your departure you will have some time for shopping. Afterwards you will be brought to the airport. (B)
