From Bangkok to Chiang Mai by train
Discover Thailand’s cultural highlights! You will discover this fascinating country on a round trip from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. You will experience the culture, tradition, religion and the local life in Thailand on this tour.
The program and the accommodations are diversified and you will get a lot of different impressions on this tour. You kids will be happy about the mixture of culture and activities.
Day 1: Arrival in Bangkok
Transfer to the Hotel Ariyasomvilla.
Day 2: Tour in Bangkok: Flower market, boat tour on the Klongs, China Town
You will start in the morning for the flower and vegetable market. You will discover that vivid place by boat. Afterwards you will take a walk in the city to visit some temples. Your lunch break will be in a local restaurant.
After lunch, you will continue your discovery tour. You will get on a longtail boat that is driving you through the Kongs of Thonburi (the traditional water channels in Bangkok) where you will get a new impression of the city.
Thereafter, you will discover China Town. With its stands for local food and flashing signs it seems to be a different world located in the Thai capital.

Day 3: Ayutthaya Tour
Check-out Ariyasomvilla Hotel. You will start your tour through Northern Thailand today. Your first stop will be in Ayutthaya which was the King’s residence in former years.
You will be picked up at your hotel in the morning. You will visit the Bang Pa In Palace first. The palace was built in 1630 as the summer residence of King Chulalongkorns, Rama V.. Thereafter, you will drive to Ayutthaya. The city is one of Thailand’s cultural highlights and was the residence of 33 Kings over a period of 417 years. You will visit the ruins that are left after the Burmese attacked the city in 1767.
Ayutthaya is located on an island where three rivers cross: Maenam Chao Phraya, Pasak and Lopburi. You will take a boat tour together with your boat guide for 45-60 minutes.
You will be brought to your hotel in Ayutthaya around 4 pm. The hotel is located directly at the riverside.

Day 4: Ayutthaya – Train ride to Sukhothai
You will get on the train in the morning. You will pass the flat landscape of Central Thailand with endless rice fields. The train ride takes approximately six hours. You will be picked up at the train station and be brought to Sukhothai. The rest of the day is for your free disposal.

Day 5: Sukhothai – Cycling Tour
At 8 am you will start your cycling tour. There will be carts or tandems provided for younger children
Your tour will lead you through small suburbs and rice fields. You will discover the Historical Park in Sukhothai (UNESCO World Heritage). You will get information about the Thai history and the Buddhism. After lunch, you will continue cycling through small villages where you will see handymen doing their traditional work.
This is a tour which will get you close to the culture and the local life.

Day 6: Sukhothai – One day for relaxation
Today you can take a break and enjoy the city. You can relax at the pool, take a TukTuk tour in the city centre or take a walk in the rice fields (maybe you will even see rice farmers at work and sometimes they invite you to help).
In the evening, you will take a cooking course in a small local restaurant. You will be supervised to prepare your own dinner today.

Day 7: Train ride to Chiang Mai
You will be brought to the train station in Pitsanulok where you will get on the train to Chiang Mai. The ride takes ca. 7 hours. You can see from your window how the landscape outside is changing to a more hilly scenery.
After your arrival in Chiang Mai, you will be picked up at the train station. You will stay in the Little Village Resort outside the city. The resort is family-friendly and your kids can play in the pool or on the playground.
You will stay in a spacious traditional wooden house with two bedrooms.

Day 8: Jungle Flight Experience
Today, you will go into the jungle. The zipline adventure will take you deep inside the 1500 years old rainforest. Under the guidance of instructors you will fly through the jungle!
After this unforgettable experience you will be brought back to your resort.

Day 9: Elephant Camp
Start: 8 am, ca. 40 minutes’ drive to the elephant camp Mae Sa. You can watch and feed elephant families and a one hour ride on the back of an elephant will be today’s highlight. The elephants are treated very well in this camp. Before lunch, you will watch a show where the animals present their skills.
In the afternoon, you will be brought to a reservoir. You will cross the lake by longtail boat to get to a raft house. You can go kayaking or swimming and enjoy the wonderful natural surroundings.
Afterwards, you will be brought back to your resort.

Day 10: Cycling tour
Today you will discover Chiang Mai’s countryside by bike. You will cycle through rice fields and small villages and visit a local school.
Bicycles are available in different sizes. Lunch is included and the tour takes in total around five hours.

Day 11: Chiang Mai City
You will move to the city centre today. The stylish, small hotel has a pool and you can discover the city by foot.
You will visit the famous Night Bazaar in the evening where you can go souvenir shopping.

Day 12: Chiang Mai: Market and Rickshaw
In the morning, you will visit China Town where you will experience the vivid markets and where you can try some fruits and food. You will also see a Chinese pharmacy where medicine is made out of herbs.
Lunch break will be at a nice colonial house at the riverside. Thereafter, you will take a rickshaw back to your hotel.

Day 13: Departure
Today you will leave Northern Thailand. Transfer to the airport.
